This Manitowoc 18000 crane is being used to erect wind turbine towers at the Naff Ridge Wind Farm near Rosalia, WA. It weighs in at a million pounds, has a 300-ft. boom. Each tower is made up of 3 sections, the bottom weighing 140,000-lbs, middle weighing 132,000-lbs and the top weighing 83,000-lbs. Then a generator and rotor is added, weighing 226,000-lbs. Three 160-ft long blades are then installed weigh-in in at 14,000-lbs ea.

The operator enjoys a very comfortable seat in an office with a spectacular view. All of that and he still gets paid!
