Haystack Fire

We were called on a haystack fire a couple of nights ago. It was’t arson, but cause was undetermined. It was theorized that a spark from a tractor exhaust landed on a bale, and maybe ignited it. It is known that the fire began inside the stack.

Below, the crew is filling a 6,000-gal. “pumpkin” for use by the lucky volunteers chosen to for night crew to keep the fire contained. Pumpkins are very portable water storage vessels. The top ring is filled with air and filling begins. That stack burned for a very long time!
